The Cognitive Aging Laboratory operates under the direction of Dr. Rose T. Zacks in the Brain, Behavior and Cognition area of the Psychology department at Michigan State University. This laboratory investigates the role of inhibition in a variety of cognitive tasks (e.g. memory, attention, . . .). We believe that as people age, the efficiency of these inhibitory processes breaks down. Without the benefit of these inhibitory processes, older adults are more susceptible to goal-irrelevant information. This framework was outlined in Hasher and
Zacks (1988).
